Buy More Save More (BMSM) and Gift with Purchase: How to Boost Average Order Value

BMSM — Rewards Based on Purchase Quantity

Mechanism: set discounts for a group of products when customers reach a purchase quantity threshold. Maximum of 2 discount tiers (tier 2 must have a higher threshold and discount percentage than tier 1), maximum of 30 active/upcoming campaigns at the same time, duration of 10 minutes–365 days.

Budget example: for a “Buy 2 get 10% off” campaign, with a product price of 10 USD, if a customer buys 2 products → promotion cost = (10×2)×10% = 2 USD, deducted from the budget. If the customer cancels the order before shipping, the budget is refunded; if the customer returns/refunds after shipping, the budget is not refunded.

BMSM can be stacked with Campaign price, Product discount, shop Flash Sale, and Seller voucher.

GWP (Gift with Purchase) — Reward with Gifts Instead of Discounts

Customers who reach a spending threshold or purchase quantity will receive a free gift. Mandatory notes:

• Items exceeding 1,500,000 VND cannot be used as gifts (threshold in Vietnam).
• The gift and the main item must be in the same warehouse, otherwise the campaign cannot be created.
• Maximum of 100 main items, maximum of 7 gifts per tier, maximum of 2 tiers.
• Customers bear the shipping fee for both the main item and the gift — you should choose lightweight gifts to avoid inflating shipping fees, which reduces the motivation to buy.

Can GWP and BMSM Be Stacked?

No. GWP can be stacked with most other promotions, except Buy More Save More (BMSM) and Bundle deals — you cannot run all 3 of these campaigns on the same product during the same period.

Risks to Keep in Mind

With GWP, if the customer returns all main items, they must return the accompanying gift; but if they only return a part, the customer is allowed to keep the gift. If the gift is damaged or not returned, the seller has the right to refuse the refund — you need to understand this rule clearly to handle return disputes involving gifts.
