Chargeable weight calculation formula

Chargeable weight = the higher value between actual weight and volumetric weight.

Volumetric weight (kg) = Length (cm) × Width (cm) × Height (cm) / 6,000

Example: A package has an actual weight of 4.5 kg and dimensions of 30×20×10 cm → volumetric weight = (30×20×10)/6,000 = 1 kg. Since 1 kg is lower than 4.5 kg, the chargeable weight is 4.5 kg (using the larger number). Conversely, for light but bulky items, the volumetric weight is often larger than the actual weight — and that is the number charged.

The actual shipping fee paid will be based on the chargeable weight entered by the seller or measured by the logistics service provider (LSP), whichever is higher.

Packaging by product type — TikTok Shop standards

The most common error leading to package rejection: no outer packaging, no inner protective layer, fragile items packed in shipping bags instead of carton boxes (for electronic goods).

Risks to note

TikTok Shop clearly states: it is not responsible for loss/damage caused by improperly packaged, labeled, or prepared products — and does not compensate for damage to food or liquids (restricted shipping items). Investing in the right packaging materials from the start is much cheaper than compensation costs or losing reputation due to damaged goods upon delivery.
